Townsville, North Queensland

Judy and I recently spent a wonderful week in Townsville visiting friends and enjoying the fantastic winter weather there. We are still waiting on delivery of our 'Cruiseliner' but we are slipping into 'travel mode' before hand.

Nearly every day the sunrise and sunset is a marvellous sight and experience to behold. This is 'first light' over Rowes Bay, Townsville.

One hour drive north of Townsville is the town of Lucinda, probably best known for the sugar wharf, shown here, that stretches to infinity. The island appearing in the far background is Pelorus Island.

Made the Deal

The RV exhibition in Brisbane was excellent. The variety of exhibitors was truly amazing, there was something there of interest for everyone passionate about travelling in this vast country.

We found the RV we consider is correct for our style of travel and as expected it is the Avan Cruiseliner. We have ordered the Cruiseliner with options we have selected from the vast array on offer. The only downside is the 90 day wait for delivery, this demonstrates the popularity of this RV to travellers in Australia.

All we can do now is to plan routes and destinations for when finally take delivery and purchase the small extras such as crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.

It is fairly obvious now that I will not be making any further posts to this blog until we take delivery of our Cruiseliner in early September, I hope you return for the real and interesting posts I promise to create from that time on.

In Preparation

Obviously the first thing we need to do before setting off on our travels is to obtain a vehicle to go travelling in. To that end we are going to attend the RV (recreational vehicle) exhibition at our Capital City, Brisbane. We will be attending Monday and Tuesday 8th & 9th June so that we will be able to take in all the options available to us. We think we know what we would like but we may possibly be swayed to take some other type of RV that we have never seen before. Attending this exhibition will enable us to negotiate the best deal for the RV, options and accessories that we consider necessary for our style of travel.

The Beginning

We are sorry that there is no content at the moment, we haven't received our Avan as yet. But keep us in mind and come back in the future. Further post will probably appear about mid to late September 2009.
