Rifle Creek Rest Area, Mount Molloy

We decided to make a major move, from Wonga Beach to Mount Molloy, a distance of about 55 km. We stayed at the Rifle Creek RA about 14 years ago and not much has changed in that time.
About half way up the long climb from the coastal plains of Mossman to Mount Molloy is this photo opportunity at a look out run-off. The buildings in the middle ground are on the outskirts of Mossman.

Our camp site, our neighbour, with the 'slide-on', is Geoff, a Kiwi, now residing at Airley Beach, when he is at home.

We stayed two nights here, at $2 per night it's not expensive! There were 22 camps the first night and 10 the following night.

Great picnic rotunda beside the Post Office in the main street of Mount Molloy.

The Post Office, I'm sure that this is a new building that wasn't here last visit.

Great landscaping around the picnic rotunda.

An old 2 cylinder steam engine abandoned on a block on the main street.

This is the boiler that once fed the steam engine.

An old sawmill that has been well and truly gutted of all machinery.

Mount Molloy is well maintained  by the Mareeba Council. Multi purpose courts with a Rugby League ground behind it.

There is even new development in the town.
Same blocks but a different price, how can this be?

The view out of town towards Rifle Creek. The camp is only 1km from town.
