Bjelke Petersen Dam

We took a few days away from home and visited Yallakool Tourist Park at Bjelke Petersen Dam. The sites are reasonably large and fairly well grassed. Tariff is $25 with power and $20 without. While we were in residence there was a steady movement of travellers calling in for various lengths of stay.

I believe the reservoir has been very low on water for some time but since the last wet season water levels have been fairly high. The caravan park is just visible in the back ground over my right shoulder. This shot is taken from the day picnic area.

This is the main wall of the dam, you can see the water level is still fairly high by the high level water mark left behind. These shots were taken on an overcast day, so they are unfortunately not very bright.

Outside the Office/Kiosk is a relic from the past. This fuel dispenser has not seen use for many a year.
