Charters Towers, Buildings - Mon 9th to Wed 11th November

The posting for Charters Towers I am splitting into two sections because of the number of photos that I want to display. This section is devoted totally to some of the fabulous old architecture in the town CBD.

This is a general view of the bottom end of the main street.

The Post Office.

Was D.S & Co. now obviously 'Target'.

Another Grand Building.

Many of the old buildings have intricate cast iron work.

All the old buildings in the CBD have been converted to new uses, this is now a convention or meeting centre.

The Stock Exchange Arcade.

The person that built this arcade went bust before the Stock Exchange became a tenant.

The interior of the Stock Exchange Arcade.

This was the World Commerce Bank. It is now the local cinema.

City Hall and to the left of it the 'Tourist Information Centre'.
