On the East Coast

As towns are close together in Tasmania, this enables us to see the sights of many places in the space of one day. On leaving Oatlands, we stopped at Ross for morning tea, Lake Leake for lunch, Swansea for afternoon tea and turned into "Gumleaves Family Tourist Park" Little Swanpool to stay the night. We had intended to stay at a seaside free camp but it was packed with campers. This weekend being the Labour Day long weekend in Tasmania.

The convict built bridge in Ross, this bridge is still in use today, the road into town traverses the bridge.

The Ross Town Hall and War Memorial.

A low entry into 8 Church Street, Ross.

Stone cottage for sale in Church Street, Ross if anyone is interested.

Lake Leake is the town water supply for Campbell Town. There is space for about three powered sites, you plug into the camp kitchen. Apparently the fishing is very good here.

It was a beautiful sunny afternoon so we spent a little time watching the skilled and the not so skilled extract their boats from the water at Swansea.

The guy with the boat in the foreground had major difficulties keeping his motor running, almost putting the boat on the beach because of the stiff off-shore breeze. He eventually got it on the trailer though.

Great foreshore park and BBQ's at Swansea. It was a perfect day for a long weekend.

Another view of the Swansea foreshore.

Families with the row boats at the "Gumleaves Family Tourist Park" lake

The kids weren't going to have all the fun.

Jude doing some stunts on the high wire.

Facilities for group functions at Gumleaves.

View of some of the unpowered camp area from our site.

Roger and Belinda, Gumleaves reminds me of Sunday Island, there is even a deer pen here too.

At the beginning of the entry road to Gumleaves is this strange 'shoe fence'.
