Port Douglas and Mossman

From our base at The Pinnacles CP, Wonga Beach we travelled around the area to view the touristy sights. The first day we went south to Port Douglas and Mossman.
The famous Port Douglas Beach from a great look-out point in town.

It's Market Day in town, here is a pedal powered sugar cane crusher. The cane syrup is for sale, if you are up for it!

Jude thought this would make a safe seat.

Some of the market patrons are quite colourful.

This is where we came out, looks a lot like the entrance to me.

Apartment building in Macrossan Street.

Port Douglas Beach from sea level.

Another part of Macrossan Street.
Some rapids in Mossman Gorge.

Jude taking in the atmosphere at the gorge.

Strangler Figs abound in Mossman Gorge.

There are a few bald objects there too.

There are many trees with Buttress Roots in the gorge, some are quite ornate, as is this one.

Many of the Strangler Figs are quite old.

More buttress roots.

Check out the root system on this Strangler Fig.

Memorial to WW11 Bombing Site in Mossman.
