Mundubbera and Possum Park

After 2 nights stay at Cania Gorge Tourist Park we travelled a short distance south to Mundubbera, a small town noted for citrus fruit production. After setting up camp on a particularly warm day we went for a short walk around the town then came back to the caravan park and lounged in the swimming pool with three Pommy Backpackers who had been working in the fruit packing sheds. Of course they had to raise the issue of Test Cricket!

The following morning we broke camp and headed further south to Possum Park which is located 20 km north of Miles. Possum Park would normally be an interesting experience but the day we chose to be there was the first day of the great dust storm. This curtailed our activities considerably, no chance of any photographs. The Possum Park property was once an RAAF ammunition dump during WW11. There are 21 bunkers remaining that we discovered on a 4 km walk during that warm, windy and dusty afternoon.

After breaking camp the following morning Roger, Belinda and Glen and Judy and I parted company. They, to continue their journey to Victoria and us, to travel to Goondiwindi.
